Van Doorne reinforces dedicated arbitration team
3 June 2019

Van Doorne brings in Rogier Schellaars from Simmons & Simmons to team up with Bas van Zelst to lead its dedicated arbitration team. Dutch Legal Women Upcoming Talent 2018 Fleur Potter complements this core team per 1 August 2019.

Internationally recognized arbitration practitioner

Van Doorne Managing Partner Johan Boeren: “We are very pleased with Rogier’s arrival at Van Doorne. Rogier is a prominent international arbitration practitioner. His arrival fits perfectly in our objective to further develop our international arbitration practice.”

About Rogier Schellaars

Rogier adds a well-established arbitration practice (ranked in tier 1 Chambers Global and complemented by Fleur Potter’s recommendation in Legal500) to Van Doorne’s existing offering. He is a member of the ICC International Court of Arbitration and actively contributes to the work of the NAI and Dutch Arbitration Association. Rogier recently celebrated a land-mark win in an UNCITRAL investment arbitration for the Republic of Indonesia. By combining Rogier’s core team (which will join him at Van Doorne), Van Doorne now fields a sizeable team of dedicated arbitration specialists that operates out of Amsterdam and Van Doorne’s new dispute resolution hub in London.

Rogier notes that he “looks forward to reinforcing Van Doorne’s excellent dispute resolution offering. Van Doorne’s standing as an independent international firm with bench strength also enables me to further grow my practice.”

Van Doorne acts as counsel in commercial and investment arbitration matters as well as setting aside and enforcement proceedings. Schellaars and Van Zelst combine 30 year+ experience as counsel with strong academic foundations.
