The Pieter van Doorne Fund Foundation in honour of our founder's legacy
1 November 2020 marked exactly 90 years since Pieter van Doorne established a practice as an independent lawyer in Amsterdam. Pieter van Doorne empowered people and organisations. In collaboration with them, he developed sound and sustainable solutions while always being mindful of society and talent development, diversity and inclusion. We still actively propagate these values and this original fundamental approach, dating from the 1930s, still inspires Van Doorne’s lawyers, civil-law notaries and tax specialists today. This is not out of sentiment and is not intended to glorify the past, but simply because it has proven highly effective right up to today.
Currently, the Fund actively collaborates with four parties, supporting War Child and the Plastic Soup Foundation by providing legal advice where needed and by paying a fixed financial contribution every year. We are also involved in activities such as World Cleanup Day and the Plastic Health Summit. Furthermore, the Fund makes an annual contribution to Lawyers for Lawyers, enabling the organisation to help lawyers under threat to carry out their duties freely and independently as protectors of the rule of law. Finally, the Fund supports IMCD Weekendschool financially and co-organises law as a subject, thereby contributing to more equal opportunities for young people in the Netherlands.
