Maurits is part of the Healthcare & Life Sciences team. He mainly provides legal assistance and advice to parties operating in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors and has specific knowledge of European law and competition law.

Maurits studied law at Utrecht University and also completed his master’s degree in law & economics there. During his studies, he wrote two theses, on leniency and the provision of proof in terms of competition law in the context of ‘follow-on’ damages claims and on the development of European competition law in the area of selective distribution agreements in the digital economy.
Whilst studying, Maurits worked for a number of municipalities and gained experience in the legal profession and banking. Before joining Van Doorne, he worked for some time as a legal advisor to local and regional authorities, in the area of European law.
